GCSE Results 2022

Reading Girls’ School is delighted to announce another set of GCSE results which showcase the talent and hard work of our girls.

Well over 79% of pupils have achieved the benchmark 4+ (the old C grade) in both English and mathematics which is up from 2019, the last time pupils sat public examinations. Over 56% have secured the challenging 5+ grade in both subjects, which again is an increase over the same period. Finally, we are incredibly proud of our 31% of pupils who achieved grades 7-9 in both subjects. This is the highest percentage of pupils to achieve at this level in a number of years.

Across the curriculum areas, we have celebrated excellent results that reflect the unique character of the Reading Girls School. Over 80% of all students, across subjects as broad as English, French, Geography, History, Math, Art, Health and Fitness, Dance and Business Studies, achieved grades 4-9 or equivalent.

There were so many individual successes that we have selected just a few to highlight:

Congratulations to Mona, Naila, Sabika, Christi, Saarah, Sandra, Ashmita and Ragid who achieved all 7s and above across their subjects;  to Talitha who achieved over 8 GCSEs at 7 and above, and Winona who secured all 8s and 9s.

Principal, Marika Farrugia,  said

The Class of 2022 have completed GCSEs against a backdrop of extreme disruption- the first year of their courses were completed largely online in lockdown; Year 11 was therefore super high pressure and yet the students responded with determination, diligence and resilience. These are the qualities of RGS Girls that will take them forward in life. I am very proud of all they have accomplished.

I am also thankful to the dedicated staff team and supportive parents who make it happen. We are a strong community and it is only by working together as a team that we turn out these excellent results. I wish all Year 11s the very best for the future.’
