Our understanding of ‘knowledge and cultural capital’ is derived from the following wording in the national curriculum:

‘It is the essential knowledge that pupils need to be educated citizens, introducing them to the best that has been thought and said and helping to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.’

At Reading Girls’ School, we provide a variety of opportunities for our pupils to develop their culture capital. From our enrichment opportunities, to our new KS3 curriculum, STEM and Deeper Applied Learning External Provider links at KS3, our pupils are provided with as much opportunity as possible to become well-rounded individuals who are equipped with the skills to live within a modern society.

Therefore, at Reading Girls’ School we see Cultural Capital as being supported by two different strands: one, the curriculum and two, the extended curriculum.
