Equalities
How we address the three main elements of the public sector quality duty:
1) Eliminating discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the equality act 2010
- Our Behaviour Policy and Anti-bullying Policy are available in the policy section. Our Recruitment and Pay Policy are available upon request from the school reception. In these policies, the importance of avoiding discrimination and other prohibited conduct is expressly noted.
- Monitoring of equality Issues. Reading Girls’ School currently has mechanisms and procedures in place in order to identify and monitor equality issues relating to students and staff.
2) Advancing equality and opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
- As a school, we acknowledge all religious and cultural events
- Our pupil and staff election and recruitment processes truly reflect our school's diverse ethnic community
3) Fostering good relations across all characteristics between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
- Our assemblies, Personal Development days programme and cultural events such as Black History and Dance productions promote tolerance and friendship. Our RE curriculum shares an understanding of the range of religions and cultures. Other curriculum areas also promote aspects of tolerance and friendship such as: English, Geography, History and Drama.
